Walking for Wirral Mencap

Walkers gather together to start the Seaside Walk

Did you do the Seaside Walk on Saturday 21st September?

Nearly 50 of us got together to walk for Wirral Mencap. The Mayor and Mayoress of Wirral joined us at the starting point to wish our walkers good luck and to learn more about what we were walking for. A big thank you to them for coming down to see us and boosting morale so early on a Saturday morning.

Starting at 9:30am, we walked 2 miles to the Floral Pavilion, where we stopped off for some people to finish the walk and for others to have a little break with fruit and water.

Those who finished at the 2 mile mark, got their certificate, their free water bottle, and their picture taken to celebrate their achievement.

The rest of us walked a further 8 miles all the way to the Green Lodge Hotel in Hoylake. Their legs might have been sore, but they were still smiling. Thank you to the Green Lodge Hotel for being our finishing point where our walkers could enjoy some well-earned rest in the beer garden.

Those of you who joined may have noticed our fundraising volunteer, Liam, doing some filming of the walk. Keep an eye out for his video of the Seaside Walk which we will share in the next few weeks. Thank you to Liam for coming along to film for us.

A massive well done to everyone who got involved and thank you to all those who sponsored the walkers. Your support really means a lot.
