Support for Parents and Family Carers
At Wirral Mencap, we are here for the whole family.
We don’t just support adults with a learning disability, we support their parents, carers, and loved ones too.
We understand that caring for someone with a learning disability brings unique challenges, not only in the present but when planning for the future. That’s why we offer a compassionate and knowledgeable service to help families feel more informed, connected, and confident.
How We Can Help
Our Information, Advice and Advocacy Service is here for family members at every stage of the journey:
One-to-one support tailored to your needs
Help navigating education, health, care, and legal systems
Support with planning for the future, including transition and long-term care
Signposting to local services and resources
Emotional support during challenging times
Workshops and Events
We run a programme of free workshops and information sessions throughout the year, covering topics such as:
Financial planning and benefits
Transition into adulthood
Supported living options
Rights and entitlements for carers and families
These sessions are open to all and provide a great way to connect with others in a similar position.
Support for Families with Younger Children
Our team also supports families with younger children who may not yet be using adult services. We’re here to listen, offer guidance, and help you feel part of the Wirral Mencap community when the time is right.
