Wirral Mencap supporting the consultation process

The public consultation process on the redesign and transformation of adult Day Services is open now until the 11th May 2026.  Anyone can have their say.

The consultation questionnaire is available online or you can download an Easy Read version of the questionnaire here.

How will people with learning disabilities who already attend Day Centres have their say?

Wirral Mencap has joined forces with Health Watch Wirral to support people at the Day Centres to take part in the consultation process.   Working in collaboration we can ensure independent facilitation, with Wirral Mencap providing the learning disability experience.

From the 16th March, 2 members of staff from both organisations will visit each Day Centre twice over a 4-week period.  The aim is to help those that can express their opinions by supporting them to complete the Easy Read questionnaire.

Potentially, without this support people who attend Day Centres might not get the opportunity to express their views at all.

Where people with learning disabilities may not have capacity, parents and carers will as always be involved in any best interests assessments and subsequent decisions.

Parents and carers can complete the questionnaire to share their own views.
